Non-govt teachers seek new pay scale
Teachers and employees of MPO-enlisted non-government educational institutions on Saturday demanded their inclusion in the newly announced national pay scale, urging the government to implement education policy-2010.
The demand came up at a press conference organised by Bangladesh Shikkhok Samity at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in Dhaka in the morning.
Speakers at the press briefing demanded monthly salaries for the teachers of private schools and colleges according to government pay scale.
Abu Bakar Siddique, president of Bangladesh Shikkhok Samity said teachers and employees of private schools and colleges get house rent at Tk 500 per month, Tk 300 medical allowance, one increment according to national pay scale of 1991 and 25 percent festival bonus.
He called on the government to implement education policy-2010, eliminating the existing anomalies between the private and public teachers and employees by ensuring retirement facilities within one year from the date of retirement and non-MPO teachers should be brought under the MPO.
Vice presidents of Bangladesh Shikkhok Samity Ranjeet Kumar Saha, Bazlur Rahman Mia, Ali Asgar Hawlader, Alka Ghosh, general secretary, Abul Kashem, joint secretary Kawser Ali Sheikh, organising secretary, Siddiqur Rahman Shamim, cashier, Shahidullah, publicity secretary, Moni Hawlader, women’s affairs secretary, Begum Nurunnahar, cultural secretary Hena Rani Roy, assistant office secretary Iqbal and other leaders of the Samity attended the press conference.
