Rishan Farazi put on 5-day remand in Rifat murder case

A Barguna court placed one of the accused in Rifat Sharif murder case Rashidul Hasan Rishan alias Rishan Farazi on a 5-day remand on Friday.

Barguna senior judicial magistrate Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the remand order around 10:00am.

The court granted five days remand, after the lawsuit’s investigation officer Humayun Kabir produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand for interrogation.

Police arrested Rishan Farazi on Thursday. The law enforcement, however, did not say where he was arrested from.

Police have arrested 16 people so far in connection with the case. Among them, 10 people have confessed under section 164 to their involvement with the murder.

Rifat Sharif was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight on 26 June in front of her wife Ayesha Siddika Minni.

Police have arrested Minni as well after 20 days of the murder in connection with the murder.

Minni, also the no. 1 witness of the case, was put on a 5-day remand on Thursday.

The prime accused of the murder Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayan Bond was killed in a alleged gunfight with police earlier.
