Four killed, 10 injured in Sirajganj road accident

Four people, including a woman, were killed and at least 10 others sustained injuries as a bus overturned and fell on a van in Salanga area of Sirajganj district on Friday, reports BSS.

The accident took place on the Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway near Goja Bridge area at around 10.30am, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul highway police station Lutfur Rahman said.

He said a Dhaka-bound bus of National Travels was coming from Rajshahi. When the bus lost its control, it overturned and fell on a battery-run van, leaving four people dead instantly and 10 others seriously injured, he added.

Fire service and police personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj.

Driver of the bus and his helper fled the scene, the OC added.
