Lightning strikes kill 3 in two districts

Three people, including two officials of Palli Bidyut, were killed as thunderbolt struck them in Shariatpur and Magura districts on Monday, reports UNB.

In Shariatpur, two officials of palli bidyut were killed as the streak of thunderbolt hit them at Charjayalu village in Damudya upazila in the afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam Khan, 45, additional general manager of Damudya palli bidyut zone, of Kushtia district and Mostafizur Rahman, 50, a junior engineer of the palli biduyt office, from Jhikargaccha upazila of Jashore district.

Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Damudya police station, said the two officials met the tragedy while visiting the installation work of an electric pole in the area, said deputy general manager of Damudya zone palli bidyut.

In Magura, a farmer was killed and five others were injured by the lightning strike while working at a filed at Kudla village in Sripur upazila on Monday afternoon.

The deceased is Bashir Ahmed of Kudla village in Sreepur upazila, said resident medical officer of Sripur upazila health complex, Bikash Chandra.
