The country’s drug administration has approved Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use on Tuesday in a bid to meet the growing demand for coronavirus vaccines.

The preservation temperature of this single-dose vaccine is two to eight degrees Celsius. The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) confirmed this development in a press release.

Earlier, the administration approved five other double-dose vaccines for emergency use in the country. Following the assessments of clinical trial and the regulatory status, the DGDA has authorised the vaccine for emergency use, the release added.

The Line Director (MNC&H) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will act as the local agent of this vaccine. The five other approved vaccines in Bangladesh are Covishield developed by Serum Institute of India, Sputnik V by Russia, Sinopharm and Sinovac by China and Pfizer by Belgium.
