Bangladesh logs 30 more virus deaths, infection rate around 32pc

Bangladesh has reported 30 more deaths from coronavirus while only 1,356 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Monday.

On the 149th day of detection, the death toll now stands at 3,184 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 242,102, according to the briefing.

And today’s infection rate is 31.91 per cent.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

Across the country 1,066 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 137,905people have recovered from the deadly disease.

She also said a total of 4,249 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 1,356 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

And today’s infection rate is 31.91 per cent.

Nasima Sultana said among the 30 victims who died in the past 24 hours 25 were men while five were women.
