Fifteen more patients died of coronavirus and 1,202 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours as of Friday.
Additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana made the disclosure at an online briefing on Friday.
She also said as many as 298 people have died in the country so far while 20,065 people test positive for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the government has extended general holiday till 30 May to tackle coronavirus which has already claimed 298 lives.
The DGHS official also said as many as 3,882 people have recovered so far.
Nasima Sultana said a total of 8582 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 1,202 people were diagnosed with coronavirus.
On the previous day, a total of 7,392 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, as many as 1,041 people were diagnosed with coronavirus.
A total of 160,512 samples have been tested so far.
Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.
