Bangladesh reports 45 new Covid-19 deaths, 1285 cases

The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Saturday rose to 772,127 as 1,285 more cases were reported, after testing 14,703 samples, including rapid antigen tests, in the last 24 hours.

During that time 45 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 11,878, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00am was 8.74 per cent, while the overall rate of detection of infected cases in Bangladesh as of Saturday stands at 13.75 per cent.

The health directorate today said a total of 2,492 people were recovered from the highly infectious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recovery to 706,833.

The overall rate of people recovered as of today stands at 91.54 per cent while the rate of death is 1.54 per cent, it added.

Of the people died in the last 24 hours, 26 were male and 19 female. Of the total deaths so far, 8,615 were male (72.53 per cent) and 3,263 female (27.47 per cent).

All the 45 patients breathed their last at different hospitals.

A total of 14,324 samples were collected in the last 24 hours. As of Saturday, the number of samples tested in Bangladesh stands at 56,13,979.

Bangladesh detected first coronavirus patient on 8 March last year and recorded its first death in the disease on 18 March that year.
