Bangladesh reports highest 82 Covid deaths since 29 April

The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Sunday rose to 851,668 as 3,641 more cases were reported, after testing 22,231 samples, including rapid antigen tests, in the last 24 hours.

During that time 82 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 13,548, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Sunday.

This is the highest number of single-day deaths since 29 April. A total of 88 people died of the lethal virus on that day.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00am was 16.38 per cent.

The health directorate said a total of 2,509 people recovered from the highly infectious disease in last 24 hours taking the tally of recovered people to 782,655.

Among the Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, 55 are men and 27 women.

Of the people died, a total of 32 people died in Khulna division, 21 in Dhaka division, 12 in Rajshahi division, 9 in Chattogram division, 4 in Mymensingh division, 2 in Sylhet division and one each in Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

Bangladesh detected its first coronavirus patient on 8 March last year and recorded its first death in the disease on 18 March that year.
