Bangladesh reports highest 8,364 cases, 104 more deaths in 24 hrs

The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Monday rose to 8, 96,770 as the country sees the highest 8,364 cases in the last 24 hours since the pandemic detected first on 8 March.

Earlier, on 7 April, the government detected 7,626 Covid-19 cases in a day.

During that time 104 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 14,276, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Monday.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00am was 23.86 per cent. The health directorate said as many as 8,07,673 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease so far.

Among the Covid-19 patients who died in the last 24 hours, 35 were in Khulna division, 27 in Dhaka, 19 in Rajshahi and the remaining from other divisions.

Bangladesh recorded its first death in the disease on 18 March 2020.
