The health authorities of Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 1,541 more cases of infection in novel coronavirus testing 8,015 samples in the last 24 hours.

The number of people died in the highly infectious lung disease by that time was 22, said professor Nasima Sultana, the additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), at a regular online briefing.

With these, the number of deaths and cases of infection have risen to 544 and 38,232 respectively.

Among the persons died during that time, 20 were male and two females. Ten died in Dhaka and Chattogram division each while another two died in Sylhet division

Professor Nasima Sultana further said the number of samples tested until now is 266,456. Samples collected in the last 24 hours were 7,843.

The percentage of detection in the last 24 hours is 19.22 while the percentage of total recovery is 20.70, she added.

As of Wednesday, the percentage of death in relation to detection was 1.42, the DGHS additional director general said.

A total of 281 people were placed in isolation in the last 24 hours while 57 released. Total number of people placed on isolation so far was 4,994. Of them, 2,380 have been released, she added.

Nasima Sultana also said the number of people sent to quarantine in the last 24 hours was 2,789 and released 2,082. Total number of people sent to quarantine in the country so far is 271,104. Of them, 214,408 were released while 56,696 are in quarantine now.
