The number of detected coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has risen to 202,066 as 2,709 more people were found to be positive, after testing 10,923 samples in the last 24 hours.

During that time 34 more patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 2,581, said additional directorate general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana.

She said this in the regular health bulletin on coronavirus situation in the country on Saturday.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours was 24.80 per cent while the overall rate of detection of infected cases in Bangladesh so far is 19.86 per cent, Nasima Sultana said.

The overall rate of people recovered as of Saturday stands at 54.49 per cent while the rate of death is 1.28 per cent

Of the people died in the last 24 hours, 29 were males and five females. Of the total deaths as of Saturday, 2,040 were males and 541 females, said Nasima Sultana.

She said a total of 10,632 samples were collected in the last 24 hours. As of Saturday, the number of samples tested in Bangladesh stands at 1,017,674.

Bangladesh detected first coronavirus patient on 8 March and recorded first death on 18 March.
