Bangladesh virus deaths near 3,400

Bangladesh has reported 34 more deaths from coronavirus while 2,487 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Sunday.

On the 155th day of detection, the death toll now stands at 3,399 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 257,600, according to the briefing.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

She also said a total of 10,759 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,487 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Across the country 1,766 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 148,370 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

And today’s infection rate is 23.12 per cent.

Nasima Sultana said among the 34 victims who died in the past 24 hours 31 were men while three women.
