The number of COVID-19 patients rose to 115,786 in Bangladesh, with the detection of 3,480 more cases in the past 24 hours.
The death toll from the novel coronavirus rose to 1,502 on the day as 38 more died of the viral disease in the country during the same period.
“In the past 24 hours, 15,555 samples were tested across the country and 3,480 of them found positive for COVID-19,” Directorate General of Health Services additional director general Nasima Sultana said in a regular online bulletin on Monday.
She added that among the 38 new deceased, 33 were male and five female.
Bangladesh confirmed the first COVID-19 cases on 8 March and the first death from the infection on 18 March.
The country entered the 107th day of infections on Monday.
With 3,480 of the tests coming back positive, the detection rate of new patients on Sunday stood at 22.37 per cent.
In the past 24-hour span, 1,678 COVID-19 patients were declared recovered, taking the number of total recoveries since March to 46,775.
