Criticising foreign minister AK Abdul Momen’s statement that Bangladesh has blood ties with India, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “The blood ties with India are of contaminated blood. What is the use of such blood?”

Zafrullah Chowdhury was speaking on Sunday as chief guest at a gathering organised by the Bhasani Onusari Parishad in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital city. The meeting was held in protest of India’s ‘burn during drought, flood during rains policy’.

Every day India is killing people in the border but we are silent, whereas Nepal has enacted a law in parliament to take measures against India.

On Saturday the foreign minister had said that Bangladesh had blood ties with neighboring India. Zafrullah Chowdhury came down hard on the statement, saying, “That blood is contaminated. We need fresh blood.” He said unless we stand up against India, Bangladesh will never be free. We must be freed of this contaminated blood.

Zafrullah Chowdhury criticised the Ram Mandir issue too. He also said, “Every day India is killing people in the border but we are silent, whereas Nepal has enacted a law in parliament to take measures against India.”

Referring to the killing of the retired major Sinha Md Rashed Khan in Teknaf, Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “Does this incident involve just OC Pradip? Or is RAW and Mossad involved? An independent commission must be formed to look into the matter.”

Speaking at the event, chief coordinator of Gonosanghati Andolan, Junaid Saki, said that unplanned development was creating floods. He also blamed India for the floods in Bangladesh. Criticising the government, he said that the government served India’s purpose. It came to power with India’s support.

Vice president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union, Nurul Huq, said there were conspirators behind the killing of retired major Sinha.

Bhasani Onusari Parishad secretary general Sheikh Rafiqul Islam presided over the event which was also addressed by BSD leader Bazlur Rashid, Biplobi Workers’ Party president Saiful Huq, Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s adviser Jahangir Alam and others.
