7 policemen, including Pradip, Liakat, suspended over Sinha killing

Seven policemen arrested over the killing of retired major Sinha Md Rashed Khan have been temporarily suspended.

The suspended policemen are: Teknaf police station’s withdrawn officer in charge Pradip Kumar Das, inspector Liakat Ali who shot Sinha, sub-inspector Nandadulal Rakhsit, constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun and ASI Litan Miah.

Police headquarters AIG Md Sohel Rana confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo.

A Cox’s Bazar court on Thursday sent the seven accused to jail while they surrendered and sought bail in the sensational case.

The court also granted 7-day remand for three accused Pradip, Liakat and Safanur.

Two more accused did not appear before the court on Thursday.

Rashed Khan’s sister Sharmin Shariya filed the lawsuit accusing nine policemen on Wednesday.

Retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead at Shamlapur police check post in Baharchhara union of Teknaf around 9:00pm on 31 July.
