Crest Securities Ltd chairman, wife held for embezzlement

Detectives arrested the chairman of Crest Securities Limited, a brokerage house of Dhaka Stock Exchange and his wife Nipa Sultana from the bordering area of Lakshmipur-Noakhali for embezzling crores through their brokerage house, reports UNB.

A team of DB police arrested them on Monday, said additional police commissioner (DB) Mohammad Abdul Baten at a press briefing on Tuesday.

Abdul Baten said 22,000 BO account holders have been dealing their money and shares through the brokerage house and the arrestees have transferred Tk 180 million belonging to these small investors into another account.

On 22 June 2020, they closed their brokerage and went into hiding. Two separate cases were filed with Paltan police station in the capital against them.

After primary interrogation, they admitted their guilt, said Baten.
