Ex-major Sinha murder: Pradip, 6 others sent to jail

Withdrawn officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station Pradip Kumar Das, prime accused Liakat Ali and five other policemen accused in a case filed over the murder of retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan were sent to jail on Thursday afternoon.

A Cox’s Bazar court passed the order as seven accused surrendered and sought bail in the much-talked about case.

Two more accused did not appear before the court on Thursday.

Former army officer Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan’s sister Sharmin Shariya filed the lawsuit accusing Pradip and eight others on Wednesday.

Later on the day, senior judicial magistrate Tamanna Farah issued arrest warrants against them after taking the case into cognisance.

Inspector Liakat Ali, in charge of Shamlapur police check post in Cox's Bazar, has been made the prime accused while Pradip the second accused.

Retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead at Shamlapur police check post in Baharchhara union of Teknaf around 9:00pm on 31 July.
