Husband gets death for killing wife

A court Sunday sentenced a man to death and fined him Taka 100,000 in a case lodged over the murder of his wife in 2016.

Judge Samsunnahar of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 passed the order in presence of convict Krishan Das. The court also acquitted another accused Lallu Das from the case.

According to the case documents, Krishan Das used to torture his wife Ram Dulari for dowry since after their marriage.

He sent Ram Dulari to the house of her brother on 21 February 2016, beating her black and blue. On 26 February, Ram Dulari's brother sent her back to her house.

But on 27 February, Krishan Das's uncle called him and said his sister had died. Ram Dulari's brother later filed the case with Hazaribagh police station.
