Jubo Mohila League leader, another arrested over woman’s gang rape

Police arrested two persons, including a local leader of Jubo Mohila League, after a woman was allegedly gang raped in Thanapara and Bhasainagar areas of Panchagarh's Boda upazila early Thursday.

The arrestees are Sazzad Hossain Milon, 33, chief news editor and graphics designer of a YouTube channel Prothom Bangla TV, and Abida Sultana, 46, general secretary of Jubo Mohila League's Boda unit.

Jubo Mohila League is an affiliated body of the ruling Awami League.

Inspector (investigation) Abu Sayem Mia of Boda police station said that the victim, who used to work as a model in music videos, went to Panchagarh on 14 July, as Sazzad invited her to Boda for work.

Sazzad took the victim to the house of Abida where he raped her along with four of his friends, he said.

Later, they took her to another house in Bhasainagar area of the municipality where she was again gang raped.

Finally, in the evening of 15 July, the victim managed to flee and went to the local police station.

She also filed a case against three persons and 12 other unknown persons under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

The victim has been sent to hospital for medical test, police said.
