Man and his wife found dead in Joypurhat

Police recovered the bodies of a man and his wife form Gundumba village in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Shahin Sultan, 28, and his wife Ashatun, 25, residents of the village.

Locals said Ashatun's body was hanging from a tree by a pond near their house while that of Shahin Sultan's was lying near the tree.

Police recovered the bodies around 8:30am and sent them to Joypurhat Modern Government Hospial morgue for autopsy, said Abu Obayed, officer-in-charge of Akkelpur police station.

Police initially assumed that the couple killed committed suicide. “The autopsy report will clarify the matter,” he added.
