Shopkeeper killed in Bagerhat

A shopkeeper was killed near the shrine of Khan Jahan Ali in Bagerhat Sadar on Thursday night, UNB reports.

Police said Mallik Delwar Hossain, 55, son of Ishan Uddin of Ronobijaypur village in Sadar upazila, was killed around 11.45pm after a customer hit him with an iron rod.

Meanwhile, police arrested a young man, Humayun Kabir, 25, in connection with the murder.

Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Sadar Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Refatul Islam said Humayun went to the shop on Thursday night and wished to buy items on credit. As the shopkeeper refused to sell anything on credit, Humayun allegedly hit him with an iron rod.

On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested Humayun. The body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed in this regard.
