Ershad’s first death anniversary Tuesday

Jatiya Party (JaPa) has taken elaborate programmes to observe the first death anniversary of the party’s founder Hussain Muhammad Ershad on Tuesday, maintaining the social distancing in wake of the COVID-19 situation, reports BSS.

The programmes include hoisting party flag at half-mast at its all offices, offering prayer at Ershad’s graveyard, placing wreaths at the grave and holding doa mahfils and discussions.

JaPa chairman and deputy leader of the opposition in the parliament GM Quader along with central leaders will offer ziarat at the graveyard of former president Ershad at Palli Nibas in Rangpur at 10.30am Tuesday.

Later, they will join a milad mahfil and a munajat there.

Besides, a discussion and milad mahfil will be held on a limited scale at JaPa chairman’s Banani office in the city at 4:30pm on the day.

Former president of the country Hussain Muhammad Ershad died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka on 14 July last year at the age of 89.
