Biman suspends flights to London, Manchester

The Biman Bangladesh Airlines has suspended all of its flights to England’s London and Manchester for one week after 29 March to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Two flights will leave for these two destinations on Sunday and will come back on Monday, said Mokabbir Hossain, managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. “After that, the flight operation will be suspended for one week,” he added.

Currently, Bangladesh has flight operations with China only.

On Thursday, Bangladesh suspended flights to all the countries except the UK and China until 15 April following the global outbreak of coronavirus.

The flight operation with Bangkok remained suspended from 12:00am on Thursday and that with Hong Kong will be suspended from 29 March, said air vice marshal M Mafidur Rahman, chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.

Earlier on 21 March, international commercial passenger flights with 10 counties—Malaysia, Oman, Singapore, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, and Bahrain—were suspended.

On 15 March, Bangladesh suspended on-arrival visas for all countries for two weeks. Besides, passengers will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh from all European countries except England until 31 March.

On 19 March, Biman Bangladesh Airlines cancelled all of its flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
