‘Govt will provide medical assistance to fire injured’

State minister for shipping, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Friday said all possible medical assistance will be provided to those on board in the launch fire in Jhalakathi, reports UNB.

The minister said this while visiting the injured persons at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is very sincere about waterways development. Under her leadership the waterways will be more safe and secured, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury added.

Earlier, the state minister went to the Jhalakathi Hospital and inquired about the injured and their treatment.

Meanwhile, the shipping ministry and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority have formed two separate probe committees to investigate the incident. The ministry's panel has been asked to submit its report within three days.
