Independent TV employee tests COVID-19 positive, 47 quarantined

An employee of Independent Television has tested positive for coronavirus.

CEO and editor-in-chief of the private television channel M Shamsur Rahman disclosed this on a Facebook post on Friday afternoon.

He said that the infected employee is now in an institutional quarantine and recovering fast.

A total of 47 employees of the TV channel have been sent in the home quarantine.

“We have also identified people who had close contact with the patient. They have been sent in the home quarantine,” Shamsur wrote.

None of the other employees is showing symptoms of infection, he added.

The affected employee last attended office on 26 March.

Saying that journalists and media professionals everywhere are exposed to professional hazard, Shamsur urged all to stay indoors and follow government directives.
