Child in isolation unit tests negative for coronavirus

A seven-month-old baby, who was at the isolation ward of Kuahtia 250-bed general hospital, tested negative for coronavirus and returned home on Sunday with its parents, reports UNB.

Civil surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said the baby tested negative for coronavirus and the baby is now doing well.

Earlier on Friday, a technologist of IEDCR collected samples from two people including that of the baby and both tested negative for coronavirus, said Anwarul Islam.

The hospital authorities discharged the two from the hospital.

Tapash Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of Kushtia general hospital, said a couple from Kalishankarpur in the district town brought the baby to the hospital with fever and cough on 23 March.

As the baby's condition was deteriorating at the hospital, the authorities concerned interrogated the couple.

After interrogation, they came to know that baby's father returned home from Singapore on 9 March.

Later, the baby was kept at the isolation ward of the hospital on Thursday last suspecting it coronavirus patient.
