2 youth who ‘died with coronavirus symptoms’ tested negative

Panic swept the locality after his death and neighbouring houses were put on lockdown.

Tangail civil surgeon Mohammad Waheduzzaman said the deceased youth tested negative by IEDCR.

Madhupur upazila nirbahi officer Arifa Johura said lockdown enforced in the deceased’s house and neighborhood has been suspended after the test result.

On Monday morning, a youth named Farhad Hossain died after suffering from cold at Topsi village in Birampur Upazila of Dinajpur.

He recently returned home from Laksam in Cumilla where he had been staying in the house of a returned expatriate.

Civil surgeon Abdul Kuddus said the IEDCR on Thursday morning confirmed that the deceased had not contracted coronavirus.

Even so, the family members of deceased Farhad were asked to maintain social distancing, the civil surgeon added.
