40 died with fever, cold in April-May in Lakshmipur

A total of 40 people died from fever, cold in the last two months in Lakshmipur district during the pandemic coronavirus situation across the country.

Samples of the deceased were collected after their deaths and of them, five people have been tested positive for coronavirus while the reports of others tested negative for COVID-19, said sources at District Civil Surgeon office, reports news agency UNB.

All the deaths occurred from April 1 till May 31.Volunteers from different organisations have carried out the burial processes of the victims.

The novel coronavirus in the district

Samples of 3,142 people have been collected from different parts of the district till 1 June and among these, the results of 2,866 came out till Sunday while the results of the remaining 276 remain unknown (7 June).

According to the results, 242 people including two policemen, physician and nurse have been found diagnosed with coronavirus.

Of them, 110 people tested positive for coronavirus in Sadar upazila, 48 from Ramganj, 44 from Raipur, 21 from Kamalnagar and 19 from Ramgati upazilas of the district.

Already 90 people have made full recovery from the COVID-19 and returned to their respective homes during this period.

Besides, ten people have died from coronavirus in Kamalnagar upazila, 12 people in Sadar upazila, seven people in Ramgati upazila, five people in Raipur upazila and six people in Ramganj upazilas of the district. An expatriate and the wife of an expatriate were among those who died from COVID-19.

The local administrations have put the houses of the deceased under lockdown in a bid to prevent transmission of coronavirus.
