8-month-old infant drowns in flood water

An eight-month old infant drowned in floodwater at Goddimari village in Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat on early Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Alifa Akhter, daughter of Anwar Hossain.

Atiar Rahman, chairman of Goddimari union parishad, said that the minor girl slipped into the floodwater and drowned early in the morning.

The overall flood situation in Lalmonirhat, Sunamganj, Kurigram and Nilphamari has worsened further due to increase in river water levels following rainfall, leaving thousands of people stranded.
