One more tests coronavirus positive

Another Bangladeshi, who recently returned from Italy, has tested coronavirus positive.

The infected was among eight people quarantined in Gazipur who were later hospitalised at Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Hospital in Uttara, Dhaka.

This was confirmed by deputy commissioner of Gazipur, SM Toriqul Islam, and the district civil surgeon Md Khairuzzaman.

All the eight people quarantined in Gazipur had returned from Italy, said Toriqul Islam. They were sent to the hospital in two phases on Sunday and Monday.

An executive magistrate, a medical officer, two sub-assistant medical officers and members of the law enforcement have been on duty to tackle the situation, said civil surgeon Khairuzzaman, adding that around 40 people have been quarantined till now.

Toriqul Islam urged the Gaizpur dwellers not to panic and to adhere to the health guidelines.

With this, the number of coronavirus patients in the country rises to 11.
