Chattogram admin enforces 8-day 'lockdown' in Fatikchhari from Wednesday

Chattogram district administration has enforced an eight-day lockdown in Fatikchhari upazila from June 23 to June 30.

The decision was taken at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Upazila’s Covid-19 infection rate was on the rise, reports UNB.

According to the district civil surgeon's office, in the past one week 196 Covid-19- infected patients were identified in Fatikchhari.

Chattogram deputy commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mominur Rahman said the lockdown will be imposed from tomorrow till 30 June.

During the lockdown, all businesses including shops, hotels, restaurants and community centres would remain open from 7:00am to 11:00am in the morning and from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the afternoon. However, drug stores and kitchen markets would be open as usual.

All kinds of public gatherings including social, cultural, and religious ceremonies are prohibited until further notice.

Upazila health officer Nabil Chowdhury said that the infection rate in the upazila increased over the past two weeks.

However, there are no patients in critical condition, he said.
