COVID-19: 145 more cases confirmed in Narayaganj

Another 145 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Narayanganj, the hotspot of the pandemic in the country. This brings the tally of confirmed cases to 2,370 and deaths to 72 in the district. And 694 have recovered in isolation.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, the focal person for coronavirus in the district, Narayanganj sadar upazila health and family planning officer Zahidul Islam confirmed these figures.

Two of the three coronavirus cases first identified in the country were in Narayanganj. On 30 March a woman died of the virus there.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on 7 April declared Narayanganj to be a high-risk red zone district for coronavirus. On 8 April Narayanganj was locked down.
