The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases has surged to 10,849 in the division with 154 more new cases detected after testing 282 samples at three COVID -19 laboratories in the last 24 hours till Monday noon, reports BSS.
Of the total infected patients, 5,994 have, so far, been cured from the deadly disease with 200 fatalities in the division till the morning.
Of the newly detected COVID-19 patients, 53 are in Khulna, 34 in Kushtia, 30 in Narail, 10 in Magura, eight in Satkhira, 7 each in Chuadanga and Jhenidah, three in Bagerhat and two in Jashore districts in the division.
The district-wise breakup of the patients now stands at 4,063 in Khulna, 1,631 in Jashore, 1,414 in Kushtia, 816 in Jhenaidah, 661 in Satkhira, 655 in Narail, 544 in Bagerhat, 518 in Chuadanga, 396 in Magura and 151 in Meherpur districts.
Talking to BSS, assistant director (Health) in Khulna division Ferdousi Akhter said 208 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 207 others released in the division during the last 24 hours till Monday noon.
Since the begging of COVID-19 outbreak, a total of 49,005 people of the division were put in home or institutional quarantines, and of them, 45,851 released and 3,154 are currently remaining in quarantines.
Meanwhile, the number of healed patients continues to rise despite increase in the number of daily infections in the division in recent weeks.
“The total number of healed patients rose to 5,994 today with the healing of 194 more COVID-19 patients on Sunday at the average recovery rate of 55.25 per cent in the division,” she said.
With the two more deaths, the total number of fatalities now reached 200 in the division.
