COVID-19: Municipality mayor among 19 infected in 3 districts

A Municipality mayor was among 19 persons newly infected with novel coronavirus in Patuakhali, Barishal and Kishoreganj in the last 24 hours until Thursday night, reports UNB.

Patuakhali municipality mayor Mohiuddin Ahmed and five others tested positive for the virus infections, said civil surgeon Mohammad Jahangir Alam.

In Kishoreganj, nine more people were diagnosed with the highly infectious lung disease virus. The district now has 262 confirmed cases.

Civil surgeon Md Mujibur Rahman said the test results of one of the patients came after his death.

In Barishal, sources at civil surgeon’s office said four more got infected with the virus, taking the total number to 125 in the district. Of them, so far 41 people have fully recovered.

Bangladesh on Thursday confirmed record 1773 new coronavirus cases and 22 deaths in the span of 24 hours.

The country has so far reported 28,511 cases and recorded 408 deaths.
