Elderly man dies with fever, cold in Chandpur

An 80-year-old man who was suffering from fever, cold and respiratory problem died at Palgiri village in Kachua upazila of Chandpur on Thursday, reports UNB.

Salauddin Mahmud, health and family planning officer of Kachua Upazila Health Complex, said Majibur Rahman Bacchu, 80, had been suffering from fever, cold and respiratory problem for the last several days.

A medical team collected samples from the deceased for testing coronavirus.

Earlier, Shahadat Hossain Manik, 45, son of the deceased and an employee of a garment factory, died with the same symptoms on 19 May.

Later, the local administration put the house under lockdown.

The death toll from coronavirus in Bangladesh has reached at 559 with the detection of 15 more deaths while the number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 40,321 as the country reported 2029 new patients in a single day on Thursday.
