Feni civil surgeon tests positive for COVID-19

Feni civil surgeon Md Sajjad Hossain and 38 others were infected with coronavirus as of Friday afternoon.

Confirming the information, statistics officer at the civil surgeon’s office Md Yusuf said 39 people, including the civil surgeon and four policemen, of 149 people tested positive for coronavirus at Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in the last 24 hours until afternoon.

The total infection reached 411 in the district, he said adding that so far seven people died of COVID-19.

Among the new cases, 10 are from Feni Sadar upazila, 18 from Chhagolnaia, 10 from Daganbhuiyan and one from other area.

District Health Directorate officials said Rubayiat Bin Karim, Daganbhuiyan upazila health and family planning officer, has been verbally told to conduct the role of civil surgeon.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Friday reported the highest new coronavirus cases at 3,471 as well record 46 deaths in the last 24 hours until Friday morning.

The health authorities have so far reported 81,523 coronavirus cases and 1,095 deaths.
