Five people die with coronavirus symptoms

Five people suffering from cold, fever and respiratory problems died in various districts, reports news agency UNB.

In Sirajganj, a man with coronavirus symptoms died undergoing treatment in the hospital early Monday, said Sadar upazila health and family planning officer Jahidul Islam.

The deceased is Fanindranath Thakur, 51, of Bagbati village in Sadar upazila.

In Satkhira, two people including an elderly woman suffering from cold and fever died at Satkhira Medical College Hospital.

They were identified as Selina Begum, 56, wife of Ismail Hossain of Debhata upazila and Ayub Ali, 70, of Roispur village in Sadar upazila.

Hospital director Rafikul Islam said Selina was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital on 23 May and died in the afternoon.

Ayub Ali was admitted on 22 May and he also died early Monday, he said. The samples of the duo were collected for coronavirus test, Rafikul said.

In Keraniganj, a patient admitted to isolation ward of Nababganj Health Complex died in the afternoon, said Hargobinda Sarkar, medical officer of Upazila Health Complex.

He was also suffering from Kidney problems and diabetes, he said.

His samples were collected for COVID-19 test, the physician said.

In Manikganj, another patient of Isolation Ward of Sadar Hospital died, said hospital director Arshad Ullah.

A total of 16 people were found positive of coronavirus in last 24 hours, he said.

Meanwhile, recorded its highest number of coronavirus cases on Monday when the health authorities reported 1,975 cases, detected within the last 24 hours. The number of confirmed cases now stands at 35,585.

"During the period, 21 more people died from coronavirus, taking the local death tally to 501," according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
