The overall flood situation in Manikganj district deteriorated while water levels of the internal rivers rising continuously and inundating two more upazilas of the district, reports BSS.

The newly flood affected upazilas are Ghior and Manikganj sadar. Earlier, Daulatpur and Harirampur upazilas were inundated with floodwater.

Sources from Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) office in Manikganj said that Jamuna river was flowing 68 cm above the danger mark at Paturia point around 9:00am today while the water of Padma river was also flowing above the danger level at Aricha point at that time.


Abdul Matin, chairman of Dighi union, said most of the low-lying areas of this union were inundated. Most of the Kancha roads including some carpeted roads went under the floodwater. Dighi-Chhuti-Bhatbaoir road and Dighi-Ghona road have already been inundated.


Under Manikganj sadar upazila, Nabagram, Jagir, Putail and Bhararia unions were also flooded with the water of Kaliganga river.
