Ghanaian footballer dies in Chattogram jail

A football player from Ghana, who was in jail in a drug case, died in police custody at Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Frank En Tim Tham, 40.

Senior jail superintendent Md Kamal Hossain said Frank was in jail for the past four months in a drugs case.

He was hospitalised after he fell sick with fever and cough on Wednesday, he said.

He died of septic shock, Hossain said quoting the physicians.

Officer-in-charge of Bakolia police station Nezam Uddin said police arrested two foreigners including Frank with possession of yaba pills from Shah Amanat area on 4 January.

The duo had been playing for different clubs in Bangladesh, he said.
