The upazila nirbahi officer of Homna, Cumilla has tested positive for coronavirus, reports UNB.
The samples of the UNO, Tapti Chakma, his private driver and night guard as well as 17 others from Cumilla tested positive on Sunday, according to Homna civil surgeon office.
With these, total coronavirus cases have now reached 109 in the district.
The UNO said that she is undergoing treatment staying at his government residence.
A total of 1,37,787 coronavirus infected persons have been identified in Bangladesh till 27 June.
Health authorities confirmed 3,809 new cases after testing 18,099 samples in a span of 24 hours till Sunday.
The infection rate was recorded 21.05 per cent for the day. Since 18 March, the government said 1,738 people have died of COVID-19.
Over the last 24 hours till Sunday, 43 people died from the highly contagious disease with the mortality rate still hovering around 1.26 per cent.
