BGB detains an Indian for entering into Bangladesh illegally

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained an Indian national in Lalmonirhat for entering Bangladesh without valid travel documents, reports UNB.

The detainee has been identified as Rahim Mia, 28, of Gijalda village in West Bengal's Coochbehar district.

Zahul Islam, a BGB official from Jaorani camp in Hatibandha, said that Rahim entered Bangladesh from India illegally. "We detained him from the Bhelaguri area of the district's Hatibandha upazila on Tuesday evening. He is a cattle trader."

The detainee was handed over to the Hatibandha police station, he added.

"A case has been filed against Rahim for trespass," said Ershadul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hatibandha police station.
