Man dies with ‘flu-like symptoms’, 10 houses locked down

The local administration put 10 houses under lockdown after the death of a youth showing ‘flu-like symptoms’ in Khetlal upazila on Thursday.

Joypurhat civil surgeon Selim Mia said the youth, a labourer of a food factory in Bogura, had been suffering from fever and cold for the last eight days.

The owner of the factory sent him home on Wednesday night and the youth died around 12:00pm while being taken to a hospital on Thursday, Selim said.

Sample from his body was sent for test while ten houses in the area were put under lockdown after the death, he added.

A total of five people have been sent in isolation and 79 are staying in home quarantine in the district as of Thursday.

Bangladesh reported another death from coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 112 new cases, raising the number to 330.

The global death toll from coronavirus reached 88,565 as of Thursday.
