Man killed in clash between supporters of two councillor candidates

A youth was killed in a clash between the supporters of the two union parishad (UP) member candidates during the UP election in Chattogram’s Anowara upazila on Wednesday.

The incident took place near Singhra Government Primary School centre in Chataree union of the upazila.

The deceased is Angkur Dutt, 30, from Singhra village of the union.

According to police and locals, a clash broke out between the supporters of two UP member candidates Raghunath Sarker and Nazim Uddin about 200 yards away from the Singhra Government Primary School centre, leaving Angkur Dutt injured.

Critically injured Angkur Dutt was rushed to the upazila health complex where physicians declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Anwara police station Didarul Islam Sikder said a youth has been killed during a clash near the polling centre.

The body has been sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy, he added.
