A mentally challenged youth living in chains was burnt to death in a fire that broke out at his house in Paschim Kharera village of Burichang upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 18, a Class XII student of Khasru Degree Government College and son of Abdul Matin of the village.

On Tuesday night, a fire broke out at the house. Alauddin was inside the house at that time and could not escape as he had been chained, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Burichang police station.
