One killed, 7 wounded in Sherpur clash

An elderly man was killed and seven persons wounded in a clash between two rival groups at Doribhanga village in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Abdullah alias Dola Mia, 65, of the village.

Quoting locals, Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Sreebardi police station, said Abdullah accused his neighbour Mamtaj Mia of stealing Tk 2 lakh which went missing from his house.

In a local arbitrary with the presence of the local union parishad member, Mamtaj agreed to pay the money to Abdullah.

However, they locked into an altercation over the money around 2:00pm. At one stage, the two groups involved in a clash, leaving eight people from the both sides injured.

The injured were taken to Sreebardi health complex where doctors declared Abdullah dead.
