Rangpur division virus cases cross 3600

Another 71 people were tested positive for coronavirus infection after testing their samples at two laboratories in Rangpur division on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Health officials said the new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples from all eight districts in the division at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 41 patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) laboratory.

“The new 41 patients include 26 of Rangpur, seven of Kurigram, six of Lalmonirhat and two of Gaibandha districts,” Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force chief and RpMC principal professor AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 30 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 30 new COVID-19 patients include 14 of Dinajpur, two of Panchagarh, five of Nilphamari and nine of Thakurgaon districts,” MARMC principal professor Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:00pm.

Focal person of COVID-19 and assistant director (health) for Rangpur division ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 3,604 as 71 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise breakup of the patients stands at 1,137 in Rangpur, 160 in Panchagarh, 423 in Nilphamari, 182 in Lalmonirhat, 235 in Kurigram, 236 in Thakurgaon, 803 in Dinajpur and 428 Gaibandha districts in the division,” Siddiqui added.
