Teen commits suicide over SSC result

A teenage girl apparently hanged herself after failing the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in Puthia village of Ullapara, Sirajganj on Sunday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Mafia Khatun, 16.

Mafia hanged herself in their home in the afternoon, shortly after receiving her result, UNB quoted the Dipak Kumar, OC of Ullapara police station, as saying.

The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were published Sunday, where the overall pass rate was close to 83 per cent, i.e. 1 out of every 7 students failed.
