Two die of coronavirus in Mymensingh Monday

Two coronavirus patients died in Mymensingh on Monday.

One of the two was tested COVID-19 positive posthumously while another one was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Of them, a 20-year-old youth was suffering from fever and breathing problems. He succumbed to the complications in the afternoon, said Mymensingh civil surgeon ABM Moshiul Alam.

The young man was a trader at Jaina Bazar, Gazipur and had returned home to Trishal about a week ago. Following his death, the health department collected samples from his body and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College.

Another victim is a 40-year-old from Dewanganj, Jamalpur, who was undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of SK Hospital in Mymensingh.

He died around 11:00pm, the civil surgeon said.

Some 16 new COVID-19 patients have been identified in four districts of Mymensingh till Monday night. Among them, four are from Mymensingh, seven from Sherpur, five from Netrokona and one from Jamalpur.

In total, 117 coronavirus patients have been detected in Mymensingh division among whom 36 are from Mymensingh, 29 from Netrokona, 28 from Jamalpur and 24 from Sherpur. Three people have died of the virus in Mymensingh district.
