Two teens ‘commit suicide’ for SSC results

Two female students allegedly committed suicide in Magura and Thakurgaon districts on Sunday after failing the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

In Magura, Airin, 16, a madrasa student and daughter of Jahid Hossain, resident of Parvatpara village of Mohammadpur upazila, reportedly hanged herself around 7:00pm after receiving her result.

Confirming the matter, Tarek Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station said that an unnatural death case was filed.

In Thakurgaon, Lima Akhter, 16, daughter of Jahirul Islam of Tinua village of Haripur upazila, ‘committed suicide’ by hanging herself at her room.

The victim’s father Jahirul Islam, said that after returning from field, he and her wife found Lima hanging in the afternoon.

Later, she was taken to Haripur health complex where physicians declared her death, said Md Amiruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Haripur police station.
